Edinburgh judoka Sally Conway is out to end her year in style to provide a springboard towards Rio 2016.

The world No.7 competes in the Jeju Grand Prix in Korea this weekend before heading off to Japan for the Tokyo Grand Slam next week.

Conway was seventh in the Under-70kg event at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam at the start of the month and the Commonwealth bronze medallist would love to repeat her success of last year in Jeju when she won a bronze medal.

Only German Laura Vargas Koch, the world No.2, is ranked above her but there is a quality field which also includes world No.8 Assmaa Niang from Morocco.

Conway, who won the European Open in Glasgow last month, opens against Korean Jeyoung You.

Edinburgh clubmate and world No.19 Sarah Adlington, the Commonwealth Over-78kg gold medallist, is also in action and opens against another Korean, Eun-Ju Lee.

Tain’s Connie Ramsay, who is also based in Edinburgh, beat German Johanna Mueller in her opening fight in the Under-57kg event yesterday but then lost to European champion Automne Pavia from France.
