Capital curlers Gina Aitken and Bruce Mouat lost their vice-like grip on the Scottish Mixed Doubles title in yesterday’s semi-finals at Braehead Arena.

Aitken and Mouat were bidding for a hat-trick of titles in Glasgow and looked to be on course for a place in the final when they led Judith and Lee McCleary 3-1 and 4-3, but a disastrous sixth end saw the holders slip to a 9-4 defeat.

The other semi was also a family affair as Lauren and Logan Gray ended Rowena Kerr and Grant Hardie’s 100 per cent record with an 8-6 win.

The McClearys beat the Grays 12-6 in yesterday’s final and will now represent Scotland at the World Mixed Doubles Championships in Sochi, Russia in April.
