Curling: Bruce stays in contention for title

Have your say

Murrayfield curler Bruce Mouat maintained his title challenge with a thumping win at the Scottish Championships in Perth.

The national junior champion overcame an early two-stone deficit to outplay Ross McCleary 11-5, and the result pushed Mouat into equal-second spot in the round-robin rankings with five wins from seven matches. Edinburgh’s Gina Aitken looked certain to qualify for the medal play-offs when she won her first four games, but the junior gold medallist still has work to do following yesterday’s 10-3 defeat to Eve Muirhead.

That gave the former world and European champion revenge for Monday’s 10-5 defeat and left Aitken needing at least one more win to book her play-off spot.
