Murrayfield’s world junior champion Bruce Mouat won the Scottish Curling Tour despite a messy end to his Aberdeen International campaign at Curl Aberdeen yesterday.

The 21-year-old won three of his four Group C matches, losing only to double world champion David Murdoch on Saturday.

That set up a quarter-final with two-time world silver medallist Tom Brewster, but Mouat was absent yesterday as he continued his preparations for next month’s World Mixed Doubles Championship.

Duncan Menzies replaced him and Bobby Lammie took over as skip, but Brewster won 9-4.

They had still done enough to claim the Galbraith Trophy plus £2000 prize money after staying at the top of the season-long Scottish Tour rankings.
