Curling: Thrilling win for Aitken in Perth

Edinburgh curler Gina Aitken continued her winning run at the Scottish Championships in Perth after snatching victory from the jaws of defeat at the Dewars Centre.

The two-time national junior champion followed an opening 8-5 win over Stirling’s Katie Murray with a thrilling encounter with Olympic alternate Lauren Gray.

Aitken trailed 6-1 at one stage and was still 7-4 down before she picked up six stones in the last three ends to score a famous 10-7 victory.

The only other player with a 100 per cent record after two round-robin matches is former world and European champion Eve Muirhead, who trounced Lockerbie’s Hannah Fleming 8-2 yesterday.
