Wide receiver Lloyd Dignan scored all four touchdowns as the Edinburgh Wolves kicked off their season with a 27-15 win at Meadowbank over the Doncaster Mustangs in the BAFA Northern Football Conference.
Having been promoted, the Wolves were keen to prove they were capable of performing at a higher level and head coach Don Edmonston was delighted with the manner in which his side started their 2015 campaign.
He said: “I’m delighted to open the season with a home win. I was impressed with the rookies that got game time, especially safety Jason Gray who had a great game and had an interception in his first start. Whether it was fatigue, inexperience or just lax play, we slowed in the third quarter and gave the Mustangs a glimmer of hope. To make the play-offs we must cut out the mistakes.”
