Doug Kempsell’s appeal against his controversial omission from the Scotland squad for next month’s World Team Squash Championship in Cairo will be heard in his home city of Edinburgh on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, world-ranked 100, was left out in favour of Kevin Moran (ranked 304) and Rory Stewart (no ranking) even though the Scottish Squash website states that players in the world’s top 100 will be automatically selected.
Kempsell has taken advice from an Edinburgh sports lawyer and submitted an official letter of appeal last week. He will now present his case to four members of the Scottish Squash board at their South Gyle offices on Thursday morning. A ruling is not expected immediately, although Kempsell hopes to discover his fate by Monday.
