The Edinburgh Wolves are just one win away from their third consecutive BritBowl final following a 22-6 quarter-final victory over the Nottingham Caesars at Peffermill.
The American football match – played in testing, windy conditions – was scoreless until the first play of the second quarter when Wolves wide receiver Lloyd Dignan, making his first appearance in two months following injury, ran a 75-yard reception into the end zone.
The Wolves defence were in fine form and their second interception of the afternoon gave the Capital side great field position, where Dignan once again created space to reel in a Jamie Morrison pass and find the end zone.
Quarterback Morrison used his quick hands and fast feet to sneak his way in to add his side’s third touchdown in the third quarter before tight end George Fell caught the two-point attempt to extend the lead.
The Caesars pulled back a consolation score as Wolves secured a home semi-final tie against the Kent Exiles on Sunday (2.30pm).
