ESC welcomes Commonwealth Games stars from Uganda

EDINBURGH Sports Club got into the spirit of the Commonwealth Games by entertaining the Ugandan team to table tennis and squash contests at its Belford Road headquarters ahead of competition in Glasgow.

ESC’s Ross McHoul, the club’s assistant squash coach, national league star Jacques Laas and Simon Gogolin, a former world over-45 champion are pictured with squash guests Michael Kawooya, Ian Rukunya and Paul Kadoma.

In the table-tennis hall were Colin Dalgleish, former British junior champion, Six Nations champion and currently ranked in the top ten alongside local stars Stan Stoodley and John Hannah.

They tackled Chelibe Gilton, Kevin Mafabi and Paul Mujambuze, while Lindsay Muir and Keith Dingwall took on Ugandan women’s team members Ludia Natunga and Amina Namaganda.

The players enjoyed a clubhouse meal before the visitors returned to the Games village.
