Grange, the reigning play-off and Scottish Cup hockey champions, moved into third place in Division One yesterday thanks to 2-1 road win at previous pacesetters Grove Menzieshill.
A first-half goal after 15 minutes from Australian striker Todd Harmsworth, who latched on to a Frank Ryan pass to send a rocket shot into the net, and a penalty corner goal five minutes from time from new South African signing Satchi Reddy were enough to take the three points.
Ross McPherson had levelled with 20 minutes remaining for the Dundee side who lost their seven-game winning run.
David Knipe, Grange’s coach, said: “The boys played really well and worked hard. They deserved the win.
“We had the better of the first-half but Grove pressed in the second and had a series of penalty corners near the final whistle.”
The result completed a weekend road-win double with Grange having thrashed Arbroath-based Division Three outfit FMGM Monarchs 11-0.
Harmsworth claimed four goals with Ryan collecting two. There were singles from Alan Johnston, Arin Doig, Reddy, Michael Fenlon and Callum Milne as the Stockbridge combine moved into the last eight.
Knipe said: “It was a professional performance and we took our chances.”
Other local Scottish Cup results included Inverleith’s victory over struggling Division One side MJV Dundee Wanderers at Peffermill.
The Tayside team, who have only won one of the their seven Division One matches this year, slipped to a 4-0 defeat against Inverleith with goals from Andrew Dane, Joe Drake, Ross Ogg and Graham Batchelor.
Edinburgh University progressed to the next round thanks to a 4-1 win over Division Two side Watsonians with Gordon Amour, Jack Henderson, Jamie Wong and Aedan McCrossan scoring.
