Have your say

Dean’s Jack Hartman provided the surprise of the day in the East of Scotland Open tennis tournament when he defeated seventh seed Ruairdh Ovens (Falkirk) 6-4, 6-3 to progress in the men’s singles.

The second seed David Holmes (Dunfermline) was taken to the wire before seeing off Falkirk’s Steven White in a third set tie-break, but top seed Richard Jones (Ealing) had a 6-0, 6-1 over William McLellan (Torphins) and Michael Fairburn (Blackhall) overcame Dunfermline’s Greig Munro 7-6, 6-2.

Another of the strong Ealing contingent, Sam Lowden, beat St Serf’s Vincent Hivert 6-3, 6-2.

However, St Serfs honour was upheld by Craig McFie who continued his notable North Berwick form with another 6-0, 6-0 win at the courts, this time over Lorne Berkley.

In the only women’s singles tie played so far, Hannah Sharp bea Lisa Kerr 6-1, 6-0.
