Adam Mackenzie netted a treble in Inverleith’s 12-0 Scottish Cup demolition of injury-hit hockey minnows Waverley Inveresk Trinity.

The Purple Army march on despite the heroics of Waverley goalkeeper Robin Taylor and Inverleith are now in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

The job will now get tougher, but Fife-born Mackenzie believes the young Inverleith side are progressing.

He said: “Saturday was positive as we played some good hockey and a lot of guys got on the scoreline.”

Grange also progressed thanks to a 2-0 win at Division Two side Aberdeen Grammar.

Erskine Stewart’s Melville are out, the Division Two team suffering a 5-1 defeat at Division One Hillhead.

Kelburne, last season’s Scottish Cup runners-up and the newly-crowned Division One play-off champions, were knocked out of the Scottish Cup after being held 3-3 at St Andrews University, before losing on penalties.
