Hockey: Grange have worked on their corners

Have your say

GRANGE have worked hard in training this week to sharpen up on their penalty corner routine and coach Colin Clarke hopes that work will be rewarded in their hockey double-header.

The Scottish Cup and play-off winners host Clydesdale, a side fresh from an opening day 3-0 win over newly-promoted Uddingston last Saturday.

Then Grange cross the city to Peffermill on Sunday to square up to Edinburgh University.

Grange edged Dundee Wanderers 2-1 on Tayside last Saturday and Clarke said: “We learned from that. We also created lots of chances which we didn’t put away.

“We’ve worked hard in training and will look to see an improvement this weekend.”

Edinburgh University coach Graham Moodie was disappointed with the performance of the under-strength squad in the 3-3 draw at Gordonians last Saturday.

They face Moodie’s old club, Western, tomorrow (4pm) and Grange on Sunday (4pm).

He said: “We didn’t start the game with the energy we expect and ended up on the back foot.”
