Hockey: Inverleith keep up chase with win-double

Have your say

Inverleith stayed two points adrift of indoor hockey Division One pacesetters Grove Menzieshill after moving onto 17 points from seven games after Saturday’s session at Dundee.

The defending champions beat Uddingston Riva 5-1 and Western Wildcats 6-5, despite having five players away on international duty with Scotland.

Grove Menzieshill whipped third-placed Uddingston Riva 7-1 and then thrashed relegation-threatened Western Wildcats 11-0.

Grange edged PSL Team Sport Clydesdale 8-6 to ease their relegation worries.

Meanwhile, Inverleith will vie with the cream of Scotland’s indoor hockey talent for the Grove Menzieshill Intervention Rentals title January 9-10.

Scotland’s men and women’s international teams will use the round-robin tournament as part of their build-up for the EuroHockey Championships in Portugal the following weekend (men) and France on the weekend of January 22-24 (women).

Host club Grove Menzieshill, Dundee Wanderers, Inverleith and a combined Clydesdale Western/Western Wildcats select team are involved.
