Magnus Ferrier is looking to add to his account after netting a double for his new hockey club Inverleith in their 4-3 win over his former team Watsonians at Peffermill.

Ferrier grabbed his first goals for Inverleith after switching clubs in the summer with Adam Mackenzie also netting twice.

Inverleith led 3-0 but Mackenzie was unhappy they let the bottom club back into the game with sloppy second-half play.

Watsonians pegged the scoreline back to 3-2 before Ferrier’s winner, firing the ball home from the top of the D.

The newly-promoted side claimed a late consolation but Mackenzie said: “The guys worked hard in the first half but it was scrappy in the second.

“Magnus’s second goal was really well struck but we know what we’ll have to work on in training this week.”

Edinburgh University edged under-strength Hillhead thanks to goals in each half from George Adams and former Olympian Stephen Dick.

The result was a boost after being whipped 9-2 by reigning champions Kelburne at Peffermill on Saturday, six of the Paisley side’s goals coming in the final 20 minutes.

Kelburne stay on top with 12 points, the same points as second-placed Grange, who beat Inverleith 4-1, and Western, who beat Watsonians 4-1.
