Inverleith coach Stuart Neave goes into the next round of the Scottish indoor hockey league this weekend at Perth in confident mood.
The Edinburgh side – Scotland’s champions – picked up another title yesterday when they won the Grove Menzieshill Invitational event at Dundee.
Inverleith, who will represent Scotland in Europe in February, beat the hosts 6-2 in the final at the Dundee International Sports Centre with Chris Grassick and Gordon Amour both scoring doubles and Stephen Dick and Andy Malcolm also netting.
Inverleith are set to play Kelburne, Scotland’s outdoor champions, and Grove Menzieshill in Perth on Saturday.
Neave said: “We showed our strength in depth as we played with a depleted team and still won.”
The Inverleith side, who beat Dundee Wanderers 10-5 in their final pool game, led 3-0 after seven minutes of the final.
Neave said: “We dominated the first ten minutes, but as always happens they came back at us.
“However, we played fantastic hockey during the weekend and were unbeaten in four games.
“That sets us up for Saturday in Perth but we know we can improve and we can’t become complacent.”
