EDINBURGH’S Jen McIntosh was Britain first gold medal shot at the 2012 games, but she was unable to make the final of the women’s 10m air rifle.
The 21-year-old, who is the youngest member of the Team GB shooting squad at the Olympic Games, scored 392 to finish 36th out of the 56-strong field, with only the top-eight progressing into the final.
McIntosh admitted she was blown away by the passionate and vociferous support of the British crowd, saying: “I don’t really have the words yet, it was a pretty incredible atmosphere out there and the support was just fantastic.
“We are not really used to that in our sport but it was just phenomenal and I want to thank everyone that showed support.
“Obviously I would have liked to be in the final but performance wise I thought I handled it really well so you live and learn.”
McIntosh will go again in the 50m rifle 3 positions.
