Inverness skip Ewan MacDonald and his Scotland team are on the verge of a spot in tomorrow’s quarter-finals after two more wins at the European Mixed Curling Championships at Murrayfield Ice Rink.

The defending champions beat Arnis Veidemanis’ Latvian rink 7-2 in yesterday’s breakfast match before thrashing Romania’s Allen Coliban 10-2 in a one-sided evening encounter.

MacDonald, Kay Adams, Karen Barthelemy and Euan Byers picked up five stones at the first end and two more at the second before Coliban quit after six ends. Scotland’s round robin record improved to six wins out of seven going into tonight’s final fixture against Hungary’s Gyorgy Nagy.
