Top seeds in both men’s and women’s singles crashed out at the East Lothian Tennis Open in North Berwick.
In the women’s event, favourite Emily Boden (Reigate) was beaten in three sets by Hannah Sharp, while Richard Jones (Ealing) lost in a third set tie break to Blackhall’s Michael Fairburn.
The other main upset came when men’s fourth seed James Allan lost 6-3, 6-1 to Michael Seed and Jack Hartman, a giant killer earlier in the week, lost 7-6, 7-5 to Neil Harden.
Harden’s St Serfs club-mate Craig McFie was forced to retire against David Holmes, the second seed from Dunfermline, due to a shoulder injury.
Completing the quarter-final line-up are Sam Lowden, Charlie Turney, Jack Brooker and Alistair Stiven.
Also in the women’s Zoe Henderson dropped a single game against Braid’s Rachel Baker.
