Edinburgh-born target shooter Jennifer McIntosh realised her Olympic dream when she was named in the TeamGB squad for London 2012 yesterday.

McIntosh, 20, has continued her meteoric rise through the sport after she won two gold medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India and will now compete in the Women’s 10 metre Air Rifle and Women’s 50m Three Position events at the Olympic ranges at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.

“It’s been a crazy few days,” she said. “I can’t tell you how much it means to me.”

She will be joined there by Aberdeen’s Jonathan Hammond, 31, who will compete in the Men’s Prone event. This will be the second Olympics for Hammond who also won gold in India, and works as a coach in the United States, after his appearance in the Beijing Games four years ago.
