Table Tennis: Howieson up against Scots rivals

Have your say

Craig Howieson will be wary of the threat from Scotland team-mates at tomorrow’s Edinburgh Grand Prix table tennis event at Bathgate Academy.

Howieson is seeded to reach the final against favourite Xu Ruifeng from China but it will not be easy for the Edinburgh player.

Commonwealth Games team-mate Sean Doherty returned from injury to reach the last four of last weekend’s West of Scotland Grand Prix and the experienced Niall Cameron is also seeded. Chris Wheeler and Calum Main are also dangerous, and competition will be fierce with players gearing up for next month’s Scottish Championships in Perth.

Scottish number one Gavin Rumgay misses this weekend but has confirmed he will be going for a tenth Scottish title next month.
