China’s Xu Ruifeng won the men’s singles title at the Edinburgh Grand Prix at Bathgate Academy, swatting aside a string of Scotland international table tennis talent.

Ruifeng beat Glasgow’s Sean Doherty 3-0 in the quarter-finals, Scotland cap Niall Cameron 3-0 in the semis and then clinched the title by beating rising star Chris Wheeler, also 3-0, in the final. Edinburgh’s Craig Howieson, seeded two, lost in the quarter-finals to fellow Scot Calum Main who, in turn, lost to Wheeler in the last four.
