Blackhall’s Reuben Henry will today compete in the semi-final of the ITF international junior tennis tournament at Craiglockhart after defeating second seed Thomas Wright in the boys’ under-18 singles.

Lying in wait for qualifier Henry is Portugal’s Duane Vale, while, in the other half, fellow Scot Vincent Gillespie is also through to the last four.

In the girls’ event, Alexandra Hunter (David Lloyd) has reached her first under-18 doubles final at the age of 14 after she and Dunblane’s Ali Collins, also 14, beat Megan Davies and Ellie Rose Griffiths, the second seeds, 6-4, 6-3.

Collins is also through to the semi-final of the singles on a wild card entry.

In the Nike under-14 event at the same venue, Edinburgh’s Jacob Fearnley, 12, was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by second seed Harry Butler at the quarter-final stage.
