Edinburgh Jets threw the women’s title race wide open by handing leaders Su Ragazzi a shock defeat in the Scottish Volleyball League.
The Capital side won 25-22, 26-24, 25-15 after three tough sets in Coltness to give Ragazzi only their second league defeat of the season. It was a bittersweet day for Jets, who needed other results to go their way to make the top-half split.
But City of Edinburgh comfortably saw off Aberdonia 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 and Troon were even more convincing, taking care of North Lanarkshire 25-9, 25-13, 25-12.
In the men’s first division, City of Edinburgh kept two points behind joint leaders Glasgow Mets and South Ayrshire with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 home win over Beacon Fire. But Edinburgh Jets’ hopes of reaching the play-offs were dented when they lost 15-25, 15-25, 11-25 at City of Glasgow Ragazzi.
