So far, so good for City of Edinburgh. The men’s Scottish Volleyball League champions made it two wins out of two by beating Beacon Fire 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 at the weekend.

Although it is early days, the Capital side are one of only three teams to boast a 100 per cent record in the division.

In what is always going to be a transitional season, City have still to drop a set and now have a break from league duty until they host winless South Ayrshire on October 26.

Edinburgh Jets have also made an unblemished start to the season, beating Dundee in straight sets on Saturday, 25-22, 25-15, 25-23. Jets will get a measure of what the season holds in store for them when they take on unbeaten City of Glasgow Ragazzi in their next match at the end of the month.

Ragazzi impressively beat Bon Accord away from home 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 at the weekend.

In the women’s first division, City of Edinburgh show no signs of letting their crown slip after beating Kyle Team Ayrshire away 25-18, 25-14, 25-7.

But Troon Team Ayrshire are matching them stride for stride, beating Edinburgh Jets II 25-9, 25-12, 25-6. Edinburgh Jets won comfortably at Aberdonia, 25-15, 25-12, 25-12.
