City of Edinburgh were served a reminder that there is still work to be done at the top of the men’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League as they were stretched by winless Dundee.

The Capital side, still understrength, had Joel Orsinger back from injury and Philip Tully playing his first match after a spell in Sweden, but did not get things all their own way against the bottom-of-the-table team.

Dundee blocked well in the first three sets and won the third set before Edinburgh came through 25-18, 25-23,
23-25, 25-11.

Edinburgh kept their four-point lead at the top, with Edinburgh Jets holding on to second place with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 win at City of Glasgow Ragazzi in Coatbridge.

In the women’s first division, City of Edinburgh have now emerged as the major threat to leaders Troon Team Ayrshire after brushing aside North
Lanarkshire 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 to move second.

As a result, North Lanarkshire’s title hopes now look to be over.

Edinburgh Jets were involved in a tense five-set match with Su Ragazzi and just lost out
25-27, 25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 12-15.
