Teenage Edinburgh climber William Bosi stands on top of the rostrum after defeating more experienced rivals to win the British senior lead championship in Sheffield.

The only male to top both qualifiers in reaching the final in first place, William put in another outstanding climb to outrank previous winners Dave Barrans and Ed Hamer.

Success at senior level was all the more remarkable for the fact that in the junior lead championship a day earlier William finished runner-up in the Youth A category after being squeezed out by fellow GB lead youth team mate, Jim Pope.

There was also a runners-up spot for William in the junior speed climbing behind Ian Bownes (Stirling) and ahead of Angus Davidson from Edinburgh.

William’s brother, Alexander, was runner-up in the senior speed event.
