The Edinburgh Beach Volleyball Championships take on greater significance this weekend with world ranking points on offer for the first time.
Portobello beach will host its biggest event since last September’s Continental Cup with players from all over Scotland and beyond taking part.
In an agreement with the world governing body – the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) – the top eight players on the tour will get world ranking points. “We’re expecting some great competition this weekend with players from all over Scotland taking to the sand at Portobello for the second leg of the Scottish Beach Volleyball Tour,” said Gerry MacDonald, event organiser.
“Not only are the players competing for gold and prize money at these Championship but for the first time ever they will be eligible for FIVB world ranking points – this is fantastic.”
