Grange qualify for Europe after win on penalties

Grange secured a hockey double as Cammy Fraser kept his cool to earn Grange a slot in Europe’s elite next season.

Grange’s skipper scored the equaliser as the Edinburgh club drew 2-2 with Kelburne in the European play-off. Fraser, who was a key player in the Scottish Cup success, then scored the decisive penalty shot.

Sam Judge guided Edinburgh University to a double. The Division One champions beat arch rivals Grove Menzieshill 3-2 on running penalties. A 2-0 win with goals from Louise Fleming and Bethan Mann made it 2-2 on aggregate.

Inverleith start next season with both the men’s and women’s first teams in Division Two.

The club, who celebrate their centenary in two years, lost both promotion/relegation play-offs in Glasgow.
