Capital athlete James Heatly won two individual national titles at the Scottish Diving Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool over the weekend, meaning he now holds the overall record for the most individual Scottish titles.

In winning both the men’s 1 metre and 3 metre events on Friday and Saturday, it took the Edinburgh Diving Club member onto 31 Scottish titles.

Two years ago Heatly, 22, equalled his grandfather Sir Peter Heatly’s haul of 27 titles and last year he equalled Elsie Melville’s record of 29 titles.

Heatly also won the men’s 3 metre synchro event with club mate Ross Beattie on Thursday, while there was other local success.

Lucas Thomson won the men’s 10 metre event on Sunday and a number of Edinburgh Diving Club’s promising juniors were exposed to senior competition and took a lot from the experience.

Ben Sharman and Lachlan Stark finished second in the men’s 3 metre synchro event.
