twice within a minute to lay the foundation for a win that keeps pressure on Solway Sharks at the top of the standings.

Murrayfield’s Michael Ireland made it 3-0, with former Racer Aaron Robertson pulling a goal back for Dundee in the 36th minute.

Murrayfield put the game to bed in the final ten minutes, scoring four times. Rihards Grigors and Garry Simpson goals were sandwiched between Boyd’s hat-trick marker at 53 minutes and 55 seconds, all before Racers’ blue-liner Marty Simpson, and Comets’ player-coach John Dolan traded goals in the final minute.

Racers are back in action on Sunday night, again on league business, when Kirkcaldy Kestrels travel to Murrayfield (face-off 6pm).

He told the club website: “The big one is the NIHL North Cup, which is coming up in January. We are playing Solway (Sharks) who at the moment are at the top of the SNL as well, so within the space of about seven to ten days we’ll be playing them three times.

“If we want to be successful, we need to beat them at least once, possibly twice over those three matches.

“In the league both of us are going very well at this point, but we can slip up. So, results against each other are going to be vital. To progress in the cup, we have to get past them in the semi-finals.”
