Newly-promoted NUVOC have quickly grown accustomed to their volleyball surroundings afer making it two wins out of two in the women’s SVL Premier.

The Capital side defeated QTS Troon 27-25, 25-21, 25-21 in Ayrshire to remain joint top.

City of Edinburgh, the champions, enjoyed a comprehensive 25-9, 25-15, 25-14 win over Aberdonia at Queensferry High School, a victory built on a strong service game.

“Playing against a well-organised Aberdonia side can be difficult but we controlled the game from the start with powerful, well-placed serving backed up by excellent distribution and attacking options,” said coach Tom Rooney.

Edinburgh Jets were involved in a five-set thriller against Su Ragazzi in Coatbridge but lost 30-32, 27-25, 25-23, 19-25, 7-15.

In the men’s SVL Premier, City of Edinburgh won a tough match with Glasgow Mets 25-19, 28-26, 26-24 after a strong fightback in the second set. NUVOC lost to champions South Ayrshire in four sets 26-24, 14-25, 19-25, 16-25 and Edinburgh Jets lost in straight sets at City of Glasgow Ragazzi 12-25, 21-25, 22-25.
