The 25-year-old has enjoyed a fine start in the professional ranks having won all four bouts since teaming up with promoter Alex Morrison last year and is targeting a fifth consecutive win tonight against Lithuanian Simas Volosinas in Glasgow.

However, the former Meadowbank amateur admitted his mind has been wandering as of late towards the Sky Sports televised event at the SSE Hydro on May 21.

“I’m really looking forward to being on the telly so it’s going to be great coverage for myself,” Paulin said. “Fighting on the undercard will just be immense. I can’t wait for it but it’s important I put it to the back of my mind. I need to concentrate on tonight and make sure I get the business done in the ring.

“I’m sure I’ll be fine and boss it and he won’t cause me too many problems. He’s durable, though, so I’ll probably have to work hard for it.”

Tonight’s bill at the Glasgow City Hotel includes 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Charlie Flynn and is also being shown live on STV Edinburgh and Glasgow’s channels – an initiative Paulin hopes takes off.

“I really hope it’s successful tonight and it becomes more of a regular thing. It really could raise your profile in the sport across the country if it continues.”
