Phillips bound for NYC

Edinburgh Kool Kats’ Tracey Phillips will miss Sunday’s Scottish Women’s League game away to Pentland Star at Broughton High School (12.30pm).

Phillips is off to take part in Sunday’s New York Marathon following an anxious wait to find out if the famous road race would actually go ahead after the devastation caused in the city by Superstorm Sandy. The Capital doctor had another worry as she set off  yesterday morning however as she injured a calf muscle in Kats’ game v Polonia Phoenix and has missed their last two games.

The injury is improving and the Scottish basketball cap was hopeful she would be able to complete the race. “I’m still hoping for a decent time,” she said.
