Riguez Dancer has made big strides

Riguez Dancer can make the right moves for a winning seasonal debut at Aintree tomorrow.

The seven-year-old, trained by Ferdy Murphy, was unlucky not to end the last campaign on a high. He was just touched off by Cruchain at Cheltenham in April when a mistake at the final fence cost him victory in a handicap chase for conditional jockeys. That was an improvement on his previous effort over the same course and distance in the Grand Annual Chase at the Festival meeting when he was comprehensively beaten behind Oiseau De Nuit.

He is reported to have done well over the summer and can kick off the season in style in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Chase (3.45).

Battle Group can put his successful experience of the Merseyside course to good use by taking the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) (3.10).

The David Pipe-trained jumper did the business in the highly-competitive John Smith’s Handicap Hurdle at the Grand National meeting in the spring.
