Rose set for Welsh debut

Portobello’s Great Britain internationalist Rose Anderson makes her debut for Welsh aces UWIC (University of Wales in Cardiff) in the English women’s first division at home to Sevenoaks Suns at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff tomorrow.

The former Edinburgh Kool Kat has returned to British shores after four years, three of them on a basketball scholarship, at the University of Central Oklahoma and hopes now to clinch her GB place for next year’s London Olympics. Among her opponents tomorrow is her GB teammate Ros Mason.

“It should be a good test – everything is going well and I’m getting fit,” said Anderson, whose coach at UWIC, Damian Jennings, is also assistant to the Great Britain women’s coach Tom Maher.
