Rugby: Lodge fell Forrester in style

East League Division One pacesetters Preston Lodge took their points tally past the 300 mark in only six matches when they chalked up a half century away to Forrester.

PL romped to a 50-3 win, bagging a sixth bonus point in the process. That sets up an intriguing clash at Pennypit this week with nearest challengers Duns, who were 60-3 winners over basement side Lismore. Despite languishing at the foot of the table, the Inch Park outfit underlined their ambitions last week when they launched their search for a new head coach to take responsibility for reviving the club’s fortunes.

North Berwick rallied from a hefty loss at PL last time out to post a 31-14 win at home to Hawick Linden, while Ross High went down 36-5 at Berwick and Trinity Accies were 15-8 winners over Portobello.

Elsewhere, Dalkeith and Dunbar remain locked at the top of Division Two after 53-6 and 70-0 wins over Gala YM and Moray House respectively. Dunbar clocked up a bonus point in only 15 minutes and ran in ten tries, with Keith Courtney bagging a hat trick. Something will have to give on Saturday when Dalkeith and Dunbar meet at Kings Park. Penicuik went down against Hawick Harlequins, while Broughton squeezed home 11-9 against Earlston.

Edinburgh Northern continue to set the pace in Division Three after a 41-3 win at home to Walkerburn, while Leith Accies prevailed away to Liberton, Queensferry saw off Inverleith and Royal Dick Vet went down against St Boswells.
