Rugby: Ryan Grant injury fear prompts team change

SCOTLAND’S rugby team could be forced into a late change before facing Tonga on Saturday with prop Ryan Grant battling to shake off a shoulder problem.

Coach Andy Robinson has reacted by calling up Gordon Reid, the 26-year-old who has made six starts for Glasgow in the Rabo Direct Pro 12 League.

Meanwhile, the raking incident on Scotland flanker Alasdair Strokosch which resulted in as one-match ban for New Zealand’s Adam Thomson is to be examined by the International Board.

In imposing the ban a panel chaired by Frenchman Jean Noel Couraud said it took into account the player’s “good conduct at the hearing”.

In a statement the governing body said: “the IRB strongly believes that the sanction of one week is unduly lenient for this particular act of foul play and not aligned with the sanctions handed down in similar cases.”

• TONGA have made one change from the team that beat USA 22-12 with Hale T-Pole replacing Steve Mafi at flanker.
