Rugby: Scotland dealt triple blow as trio unavailable

Scotland’s rugby team have today been dealt a triple blow with the loss of two Edinburgh players from this summer’s tour party with the likelihood that a third established star will follow them by becoming unavailable.

Capital duo Dave Denton and Lee Jones have been ruled out with shoulder and ankle damage, respectively.

In a separate development Gloucester lock Jim Hamilton has received a seven week suspension after being red carded during his club’s match with London Irish last weekend.

The Scots are due to kick off their tour against Australia in Newcastle on Tuesday June 5 and Jones’ colleague and anticipated wing rival, Tim Visser, is not due to become eligible for Scotland on residency until the Fiji and Samoa legs of the trip.

Scotland coach Andy Robinson will name his tour party next Wednesday.
