CURRIE scrum-half Charlie Shiel will make his first start in this season’s Under-20s Six Nations Championship when Scotland host their Welsh counterparts at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld, on Friday (8.30pm).

Shiel’s Malleny Park colleague Hamish Bain has been handed his Under-20 debut at lock. Bain is joined in the forwards pack by Stirling County prop and fellow debutant Fergus Bradbury.

Head coach Sean Lineen promotes Melrose winger Ross McCann from the bench in a straight swap with Harlequins’ Robbie Nairn.

Glasgow Hawks’ Josh Henderson – who was originally named to start against France last time out but had to drop out through illness – returns to don the No.10 shirt.

The young Scots began their campaign with a 20-19 home defeat by Ireland followed by a 36-8 away loss in France.
