Edinburgh Accies have sensationally sacked coaches Jonny Else and Malcolm McVie as a crucial play-off for Premiership survival looms against Stewart’s/Melville at Lasswade on Saturday.
Bob Easson, Accies’ director of rugby and former coach, will be in charge for a match which will determine whether Accies retain top flight status ahead of a new season where plans for stadium development at Raeburn Place are expected to intensify. A source said: “Results have not gone the way Accies would have liked and Bob was asked to have a word about a parting of the ways.”
After a glorious 2012-13 when they qualified for the British and Irish Cup under Simon Cross, who then moved on to Worcester the world’s second-oldest club have struggled badly. Matters came to a head after losing at home to Stirling County ten days ago.
Else said today: “I wish Accies all the best for Saturday’s play-off.”
