Edinburgh Rugby will kick off the Guinness PRO12 campaign with a reprise of the match that brought down the curtain on last season as Leinster visit the Capital on Friday, September 4.
With BT Murrayfield out of use because of the rearranged Foo Fighters concert, that encounter will be played elsewhere, with various venues under consideration and Hibs’ Easter Road a possibility.
It is followed by a fixture away to Benetton Treviso and the league programme continues throughout the Rugby World Cup with home matches against Ospreys and Ulster plus trips to meet Zebre and Connacht before Munster are the visitors on Saturday, November 7, a week after the global tournament ends in London.
European action will then take over as Edinburgh play European Challenge Cup qualifying pool games over the following two weeks before returning to league action at home to Newport Gwent Dragons on Friday, November 27. Alan Solomons’ men will launch their defence of the 1872 Cup with the home leg of their double header against PRO12 champions Glasgow Warriors on Sunday, December 27, kicking-off at 3.05pm, and the return will take place at Scotstoun on Saturday, January 2 with a 5.15pm kick off.
The regular season concludes in the first weekend of May when Cardiff Blues are the visitors, with the play-off final taking place three weeks later.
