Edinburgh Rugby's move to Myreside delayed

Edinburgh's move to Myreside has been delayed by two weeks due to the rearrangement of Munster's European Champions Cup pool match against Racing 92 in Paris.

The Irish province were due to be the first visitors on January 7 to Watsonians’ ground, where Edinburgh will play their home games for the second half of the season.

However, Munster will now play the French club on that weekend after the original fixture was postponed following the tragic death of their coach Anthony Foley.

Edinburgh announced in May that they would play at Myreside for a trial period in a bid to generate more atmosphere at their matches than can be achieved at BT Murrayfield.

Saracens will now be the first visitors to the new home on Friday, January 20 in the European Challenge Cup.

An Edinburgh statement said: “PRO12 Rugby, Edinburgh Rugby and the broadcaster involved are now working to agree a new fixture date and kick-off time [for the Munster game] which will be announced in due course.”
