A strong Edinburgh Rugby side won the Boroughmuir Sevens on Saturday.

The squad from the pro club contained the likes of Scotland Sevens caps Andrew Turnbull, Colin Shaw, Struan Dewar and Alex Glashan as well as Scotland Under-20 star Magnus Bradbury.

They progressed to the semi-finals where they saw off Howe of Fife while at the same stage the host club were too strong for RHC Cougars.

In the final Edinburgh turned in the style to come out on top 35-0 against Boroughmuir.

Edinburgh University reached the final of the Plate event at Meggetland before losing out to Dundee HSFP 21-19.

Meanwhile, a Moray House/Watsonians mixed side won the Leith Sevens.

They saw off 45 Commando 21-0 in the final at Academy Park to win the Carl Waugh Trophy.

In the Plate final Duns defeated the host club 21-12 while Linlithgow took the Bowl back to West Lothian after seeing off Earlston 22-14 in the final.

At the 50th Penicuik Sevens, Preston Lodge lifted the main trophy, defeating Lasswade in the final.

The men from East Lothian were on top form in the final, going ahead 28-0 at half-time before completing a 42-14 triumph.

Ross High took home the Ladies Shield.
