Musselburgh’s good run continued in the Perthshire Sevens at The North Inch.
The East Lothian outfit had gone into the event, part of the Legacy Sevens Series, on the back of winning their own sevens tournament last week.
They progressed through the pool stages – seeing off the likes of Hamilton and Cartha Queens Park – and eventually made it to the final but lost out to Howe of Fife.
Meanwhile, at the Selkirk Sevens Jed-Forest won the event, but Gala lifted the overall Kings of the Sevens title as no Edinburgh side made it past the last eight stage.
At Philiphaugh in round one Heriot’s lost 24-7 to Hamilton, Stewart’s Melville lost by the same scoreline to Selkirk, Edinburgh Accies were thumped 47-5 by Gala and Watsonians defeated Langholm 36-5.
In the quarter-finals, Watsonians were edged out 22-17 by Hawick. The Myreside men still have a chance of a top five finish in the overall standings with the final event at Jed’s Riverside Park this coming weekend.
