Hunters Residential Edinburgh 10s should be a rugby cracker

Have your say

The Hunters Residential Edinburgh 10s is shaping up to be a cracker at Raeburn Place tomorrow.

Now in its fifth year, the event has become a firm favourite of Capital rugby fans and 16 teams will battle it out in ten-a-side matches for the Dunedin Cup.

The matches last 16 minutes and the teams are split into four pools of four.

In Pool A, the 1 Scots can always be a dangerous outfit while the Pigbarians and the Merchistonians squads will be full of local players.

The Pigbarians, a charity team who support Dreamz4u, come into the tournament having won the Forrester 50th Anniversary Sevens recently.

The Merchistonians, all former pupils of Merchiston Castle, won the social sevens at the Edinburgh 7s Festival recently.

The Eclectic Selection from Kirkcaldy complete the pool.

Pool B will include last year’s winner Foul Fashion plus Preston Lodge. The Cavaliers, formed to raise money for charity following the death of ex-Stewart’s Melville player Stevie Sims, will be packed with local players.

In Pool C, Edinburgh Accies may well start as favourites although Pailmerks, a Gala side, may have something to say about that. And in Pool D keep an eye on the Crusaders, a charity team raising money for cancer awareness, as it is rumoured they may have some high calibre players on show.

The action kicks off at 10.00am.
