Musselburgh rounded off what has been a great season for the club in style on Saturday by winning their own sevens tournament.
With the first XV having been promoted to BT National League One for next term there has been a real feelgood factor at Stoneyhill in recent weeks.
And at the weekend the club’s first VII progressed to the semi-finals of the sevens before defeating old rivals Preston Lodge.
Watsonians beat Edinburgh University at the same stage, but in the final the home team simply had too much for the Myreside men, Musselburgh winning 45-15.
Up in Orkney, there was glory for Stewart’s Melville at the sevens tournament.
In the semi-final, they had to see off Heriot’s and after they managed that the men from Inverleith then defeated the home side 19-7 in the final.
At the Kelso Sevens on the Kings of the Sevens circuit both Edinburgh Accies and Watsonians made it through to the last eight.
At that stage Accies progressed further with a 34-15 win over Jed-Forest, but ’Sonians lost to Gala.
In their semi-final Accies were edged out 24-19 by eventual competition winners Melrose.
