It’s approaching now or never for Edinburgh Rugby signing Joaquin Dominguez who makes a first home start tonight against Zebre in the RaboDirect Pro 12 League.

The 26-year-old Argentina internationalist centre joined on a short-term contract which is due to expire next month and, after being given the nod for starts in away games at Cardiff and Perpignan, he said: “My first contract ends in December because I came late but I really want to stay at Edinburgh as long as possible and the way to do that is to help the team win.

“In Argentina my only option was to play semi-professional but a colleague at the San Isidro club, Lucio Lopez-Fleming, had been at Edinburgh a few years ago and told me I had to take the opportunity to travel.”

Dominguez has no shortage of influential advisers.

He revealed: “My mother’s cousin is Alejandro Travaglini who played for the Pumas (27 times) in the 1960s and ’70s and we would often speak about rugby.”

n SCOTLAND internationalist and Edinburgh player Tom Brown is due to begin his comeback from injury tomorrow.

The 23-year-old, who gained his only cap so far when Scotland defeated Australia down under last year, is listed at full back for Currie at Stirling.
