Kelly Brown will gain his 62nd Scotland cap against France at Murrayfield on Saturday – a month after he was relieved of the captaincy and dropped from the match-day squad.
In a remarkable about-turn by interim coach Scott Johnson, not only is Brown restored after missing matches against England and Italy, but he also regains the captaincy.
The age-old adage about not fixing what isn’t broke appears to have by-passed Johnson as the squad that produced a never-say-die win over Italy is further broken up.
Brown will line-up at open side flanker for Chris Fusaro who disappears out of the squad after two caps while, in a further back row change, Dave Denton returns for Ryan Wilson,
It is the same back-row personnel that faced Australia in the Autumn.
In the front row, Geoff Cross carries on where he left off in Rome at tight head prop.
The back division will be unchanged for the third match running having re-discovered the art of scoring tries in Italy.
Team: Stuart Hogg; Tommy Seymour, Alex Dunbar, Matt Scott, Sean Lamont; Duncan Weir, Greig Laidlaw; David Denton, Kelly Brown (capt), Johnnie Beattie, Jim Hamilton, Richie Gray, Geoff Cross, Scott Lawson, Ryan Grant.
