There is a busy weekend of sevens rugby coming up for local clubs, starting with tonight’s Lasswade event at Hawthornden.
With Lasswade’s first XV having won BT National League Three this season, there has been a great atmosphere around the Midlothian club over the last couple of months.
And to add to the feel good factor, they will be keen to win their own event that starts at 7.30pm.
On Saturday, 24 teams will be at Inverleith Park for the Edinburgh Northern Sevens.
Always an event that draws a large crowd, those present will be competing for the Northern Cup, the Inverleith Bowl and the Pond Plate.
At the same time the North Berwick Sevens will be taking place in East Lothian. In the morning at Recreation park there will also be a 10s tournament for youth teams.
The Hamilton Sevens – part of the Legacy Sevens Series – and the St Andrews Sevens also go ahead on Saturday.
With the Hawick Sevens moved to next month, the only Kings of the Sevens tournament this weekend takes place at Berwick on Sunday.
Edinburgh University are in Pool One with the hosts and Hawick with Edinburgh Accies in Pool Two alongside Selkirk sand Duns.
Watsonians are in Pool Three with Gala and Peebles.
